on yer bike...!

what a day i've had!! it's been marvellous.
it nearly came un-stuck last nite when our neighours started making really weird noises at 9pm. i know we are tremendously old-fogey types but we were in bed by then, hoping for a lovely long sleep. i figured there is nothing to stop this going on for hours and if they wake punky i'll kill them. so prior to going to gaol i went next door, and asked them to turn it off. beyond hope but within the bounds of reality obviously, they did followed by us dozing off. as a funny aside, we really couldn't figure out what they were up to but the guy that answered the door was wearing nothing but black briefs, gold chains and carrying what i kinda figured was a piece of plumbing pipe! (i didn't want to look too closely) don't you love our neighbourhood?!

anyways, i got a good sleep in as percy did not get up 'til 7am.
then i packed her off to daycare and had the day to myself! i'm on leave from work for the week, ostensibly bcause of god-bothering week. my office is just a block from circular quay so management asked if anyone has leave and wants to take it this week that would be a good idea.

what did i get up to? well, it doesn't sound like a lot but i got my bike out of the garage, washed the dust off it, cleaned the chain and gears, re-lubed it, pumped up the tyres and to my astonishment, after two years of neglect it still goes well. i'd almost forgotten how nice it feels to ride down the road with a minimum of effort and the wind in your hair. almost. i've been meaning to get the old treadly out since we arrived home from kiev but haven't found the time. cleaning bikes and minding babies don't really go well together. but speaking of babies, i rode up to cheeky monkey bike shop, now conveniently located in newtown, to get the bike serviced and have a baby seat fitted to the back. hurrah! i've been dieing to introduce percy to the joys of bike riding. if all goes well (the seat i want needs to be ordered from melbourne) i should have the bike back in time for the weekend.
what fun!
